History of Ceylon Tea Gardens


Since 1992, Ceylon Tea Gardens has been bringing the story of Ceylon tea to the world, sharing the opulence of Sri Lanka’s tea heritage with generations of tea drinkers across international markets. Nuwara Eliya tea plantation

نوارا إليا

A premier hill station of the island, with a cool climate, Nuwara Eliya is one of the top destinations for anyone who wishes for a break from the tropical heat.
Often called little England, Nuwara Eliya’s high elevation and cool climate brew teas with an exquisite bouquet. Their infusion is the lightest of all Ceylon teas, golden in hue with a delicately fragrant flavour. .

Dimbula tea estate

ديمبولا

Between Nuwara Eliya and Horton Plains lies the Dimbula district, where all estates rise above 1,250 m (4,000 ft), classifying its teas as "high grown." The region's varied terrain creates diverse microclimates, yielding subtle yet distinctive flavour differences.

Uda Pussellawa hill country

أودا بوسيلاوا

Wedged between the Kandy and Uva districts on the eastern slopes of the Hill Country, Uda Pussallawa is a Small, thinly populated district almost entirely dedicated to tea cultivation. Stand apart with their darker liquor, pinkish tint and tangy strength. The cool year-end climate imparts a gentle rose note, while heavy rains create a bolder, stronger cup. .

Uva region Sri Lanka

أوفا

A scenic, mountainous region in southeastern Sri Lanka, with tourist highlights such as waterfalls, nature and wildlife. Uva is surrounded by both northeast and southwest monsoons, creates teas with a unique character and exotic aroma. Smooth and mellow, its taste is instantly recognizable.

Temple of the Tooth Relic Kandy

كاندي

Known as the nation's cultural capital and the last Sinhalese monarchy capital. Situated amid hills and centered around a scenic lake, it houses the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, UNESCO-listed heritage sites, and lush botanical gardens. Mid-grown (up to 1,300m / 4,000ft), Kandy teas are bright and coppery in the cup, strong and full-bodied with distinct flavour. Influenced by the Western quality season, the best harvests are produced during the cool, dry months of the year.

Ruhuna low country tea

روهونا

Historically significant area known for its ancient, flourishing civilization, Ruhuna is located in the Southern and parts of the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. Teas are “low-grown,” cultivated below 600m (2,000 ft) across diverse sub-regions from coastal plains to the edge of the Sinharaja Rainforest. The rich soil and low elevation yield fast-growing bushes with long, elegant leaves.

Sabaragamuwa tea region

ساباراغاموا

Nation’s gem hub, Sabaragamuwa, is home to many key industries such as gem mining, tea, rubber and eco-tourism. Sabaragamuwa region produces low-grown teas from estates between sea level and 610m (2,000 ft). Flanked by the Sinharaja Forest and Adam’s Peak, these teas brew a dark, reddish-brown liquor with a sweet caramel note that is less strong than Ruhuna, yet exceptionally stylish.
